Some journal pages begin with a story. Others begin with an image that makes you want to tell one.
The animals in the Autumn Woodland Animal collection offer plenty of starting points: a bear gathering pumpkins, an owl perched on books, and little woodland characters surrounded by autumn leaves. Choose a scene you love, then use this simple project to turn it into a page that holds one of your own memories.
What you’ll need
- One printable page from the collection
- Your journal or a sheet of paper to use as a journal page
- Scissors and glue or double-sided tape
- A small piece of plain paper for writing
- Optional: a photo, ticket, ribbon, or other autumn keepsake
The collection contains 40 digital JPG pages sized at 8.5 × 11 inches. You can print a page at full size or reduce it to fit a smaller journal. The purchase is a digital download; no printed pages are shipped.
1. Choose a scene
Start with the animal or setting that suits the memory you want to keep. A pumpkin scene could go with a visit to a farm stand. An owl and a stack of books might suit a quiet afternoon indoors.
There’s no need to tell a big story. A favorite autumn color, the first chilly morning, or something that made you smile is enough.
2. Print and place your page
If your journal is smaller than letter size, print the illustration at a reduced scale first. Check your printer’s preview so you can see where the edges will fall before using your favorite paper.
You can make the illustration the whole page or trim it and mount it on a larger sheet. Leave a little space for your own words. A piece of cream or kraft paper works well as a writing spot without covering too much of the artwork.
3. Add the part only you can tell
Write the date and two or three lines about your moment. What did you see, hear, or bring home? Tuck in a photo or ticket if you have one. If you prefer an uncluttered page, keep just the illustration and your note.
The printable sets the mood; your details make the page yours.
Make another version
Once you’ve made a journal page, try printing a different scene at a smaller size for a greeting card or a bookmark. For extra woodland details, you can add an animal from the Autumn Woodland Animals clipart collection at PixelPopsicles before printing, or print and cut one out to layer onto your page.
